How To Use Cream Depilatories
There are two basic types of depilatories - lotion and cream. Lotion depilatories are designed for larger areas such as legs, bikini areas and underarms. Cream depilatories have a thicker consistency and are ideal for use where precision is important, like your face.
Using NAIRŪ Lotion:
The following are general directions for use on your lower leg. Make sure you follow the complete directions and warnings on the package.
- Before each use, test on a small part of the area where hair is to be removed making sure your skin does not become irritated or have a reaction to the ingredients. You want a thick smooth layer. Follow package directions and wait 24 hours. If your skin is normal proceed.
- Pour the lotion in your hand and smooth on thickly, but do not rub over the areas on your leg you wish to remove hair. Now wait at least 4 minutes.
- Test a small area by gently wiping with a damp washcloth. Do not rub. If the hair in that area easily comes off, go ahead and remove the rest of the lotion on your leg with the washcloth.
- If the hair doesn't easily come off, wait a few more minutes and try again. You can shower the rest of the lotion off if you wish.
Important Tips for Cream Depilatories:
- Be generous when applying cream depilatory and don't rub it in. Simply smooth a thick layer on.
- While the cream depilatory works (minimum 3-5 minutes), give yourself a mask or read your favourite magazine.
- Never use a cream depilatory on sunburned skin or where you have a cut or abrasion.
Waxes/Wax Strips
How To Wax
Never waxed before? There's always a first time and just like most other beauty regimens, practice makes perfect. Different types of waxes (no-strip, cold, washable) require slightly different techniques.
Using NAIRŪ Cire Divine No Strip Wax
The following are general directions. Be sure to read the complete directions and warnings in the package. Before use, test a small area where hair is to be removed and wait 24 hours. If skin appears normal, proceed.
- Wash area to be waxed with mild soap and water. Dry thoroughly.
- Place the uncovered tub on a microwave plate. The Applicator or Temperature Indicator should NOT be placed in the microwave at any time.
- Heat the wax according to the instructions, 2 minutes for a full tub or 1minute 30 seconds for a half tub. NEVER LEAVE UNATTENDED. NEVER HEAT MORE THAN 2 MINUTES.
- After heating, mix wax until smooth and uniform using the Temperature Indicator (approximately 1 minute). Evaluate the colour of the Temperature Indicator to determine if the wax is ready. If completely Pink, DO NOT APPLY THE PRODUCT TO SKIN, allow wax to cool about 1 minute, stir and evaluate again. If partly pink/partly purple, proceed with caution. Test by applying a small drop of wax to the inside of the wrist, wax should feel warm not hot.
- Apply wax in the direction of hair growth, spreading so that the wax is thin in the centre and thicker one of the edges. The edges of the wax should be raised slightly to help with removal. At the end of the strip of wax, make a little roll to help with removal.
- Let the strip of wax dry for approximately 20 seconds. The wax is dry when it is no longer sticky to the touch and the roll no longer sticks to the skin.
- Remove the strip by holding the skin taut with one hand and lift the roll of wax with tips of the fingers of the other hand, then QUICKLY remove the strip in the opposite direction it was applied, staying as parallel as possible to the waxed area.
- Moisturize and remove any wax residue with the After Use Towelette provided.
HOW TO USE NAIRŪ READY TO USE WAX STRIPS
Be sure to follow the directions and warnings provided on the package. Before use, test a small area where hair is to be removed and wait 24 hours. If skin appears normal, proceed.
- Wash or cleanse area to be waxed. Dry thoroughly.
- Warm a NAIRŪ Wax Strip by gently massaging it between your hands to soften the wax. Once the wax is soft, carefully separate the two strips gently pulling them completely apart.
- Apply a single strip to skin, pressing it down firmly over the hair to be removed in the direction of hair growth.
- Remove strip in one quick movement by pulling it off in the opposite direction of hair growth.
Important Tips For Any NAIRŪ Wax Products:
- For best results and smoothest finish, hair to be removed should be no longer than 1/2" and at least 1/4" long for the wax or cloth strip to grip effectively. Facial hair can be shorter
- Skin should be clean and dry, free from oils, creams, lotions, moisturizers and perspiration. Don't wax immediately after a hot bath or shower.
- Always warm wax strips by gently massaging them between your hands. For best results, strips should be at room temperature (20 - 25C).
- Dust the area that you'll be waxing with talcum powder first, particularly if the air is hot and humid.
- When waxing, work in small areas. Apply wax in an area 2 to 3 inches long and about 2 inches wide or use a single waxing strip. Remove as directed before applying wax to another area.
- Always pull the strip towards you, against the direction of the hair growth. To avoid having wax stick to your skin, do not pull the wax strip slowly. Pull it off quickly and immediately. Do not allow the strip to remain on skin.
- The speed that you apply and instantly remove each strip is key to perfect hair removal. For a silky smooth treatment, strips should always be whisked off in one quick movement in the opposite direction of hair growth.
- Remove any wax residue from the NAIRŪ Cire Divine or NAIRŪ Ready-to-Use Wax Strips with the After Use Towlettes provided.
